Simulation Based Urban Spatial Structure Evolution and New Towns Development for Urban Planning
This paper Is a systematic theoretical study on the formation and development of urban spatial structure (USS) and New Towns. A dynamic simulation model of urban spatial structure evolution is presented in this paper. The model is characterized in terms of New Towns endogenous, besides this, urban spatial evolution dynamics depends on the form of the urban market potential, which is described by the behaviors of urban consumers and producers. Both New Towns growth and decline are related with the location benefits. Furthermore, through sensitivity analysis of key parameters on numerical simulation platform, the paper realizes the USS evolution and New Towns development simulation from a bottom-up view. The results gotten through the modeling-simulation approach provide us with technical support to optimize the policy and institutional arrangements to achieve optimization management in the process of New Towns development and urban planning.
