Applying Genetic Algorithm to Tuning of Parameters of PID Controller of Motor-driven Load Simulator

The motor-driven load simulator is commonly used to provide the aerodynamic torque acting on the rudders of a flight vehicle during their flight under laboratory conditions and to accomplish the hardwarein-the-loop simulation of the total flight control system. This paper utilizes the global optimization search capacity of genetic algorithm to optimize the feedforward compensation of a motor-driven load simulator and the parameters of its PID controller. The Matlab/Simulink simulation results, presented in Fig. 5, show preliminarily that the sine response amplitude difference in the parameters thus tuned is only 0.33% and that their phase difference is only 0.0887, indicating that our method of parameter tuning can obviously enhance the loading precision and response frequency of the PID controller.
