A novel approach to change CPU frequency at runtime based on Java annotation
In this paper, we present recent ideas and researches about Dynamic Frequency Scaling (DFS) algorithm, making decisions at application level. CPU usage can be predicated more accurately by additional information of program itself, we give a way for programmers to provide power-aware information leveraging annotations and Aspect oriented programming. Based on this new method, we propose an algorithm to make just-in-time DFS decisions according to CPU usage predication and current CPU usage. In addition, to generalize this idea, we design a framework to enable users to provide additional power-aware information and take actions under different context.
