The Role of Working Conditions in Enterprise Employees Work Engagement

In order to explore the relationship between working conditions and work engagement, 648 enterprise employees were assessed with Utrecht Work Engagement Scale and Job Content Questionnaire. Hierarchical regression analyses indicated that job insecurity was a powerful predictor of dedication, decision authority and supervisor support were powerful predictors of each work engagement indicator while demographic variables were controlled. Dominance analysis was used to examine the relative importance of working conditions in relation to aspects of work engagement. It was found that decision authority was the most salient predictor of vigor, dedication and absorption. The conclusion is that working conditions can affect enterprise employees work engagement and enhancing decision authority will improve the level of work engagement.
