Distributed Optical Fiber Stress Sensor System for Landslides Monitoring Based on OTDR

A distributed optical fiber stress sensor system for landslides monitoring based on OTDR was presented. The stress sensing principle of single mode optical fiber with the coaction of circular elastic diaphragm and microbending modulation structure was described in detail. The stress demodulation method which could decrease the influence of light source fluctuation and environmental factors was investigated. The monitoring system was designed and the field test results showed that the distributed optical fiber stress sensor has characteristic of high sensitivity and space resolution, and it could be used as an early warning monitoring system for landslides effectively.
