HH18 Chicken embryo outflow tract flow measurement using spectral domain optical coherence tomography
The measurement of blood-plasma absolute velocity distributions with high spatial and temporal resolution in vivo is important for the investigation of embryonic heart at its early stage development We present a method to measure HH18 development stage chicken embryo outflow tract (OFT) absolute flow using high speed spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SDOCT).Longitudinal scan of the OFT was performed continuously to get a sequence of images. One phase image with most expansion OFT was selected from those images. We then measured the Doppler angle of the blood flow using the selected image.Cross-sectional scan was applied at one longitudinal position using SDOCT.Using the Doppler angle and the axial projection velocity of the blood flow provided by cross-sectional SDOCT scan,we calculated the absolute blood flow velocity of the chicken embryo OFT.
