Three-Dimensional Computer Simulation of Dynamic Arc in SF6 high voltage circuit breaker
In order to improve the large current breaking capability of high voltage SF6 circuit breaker, The nozzle clogging by the arc has been investigated during the operation of a SF6 circuit breaker. A novel dynamic energy source arc model is presented, which emphasizes the interactions among the arc, the gas flow. A simulation for three-dimensional is motion in characteristic of high-voltage SF6 circuit breaker was carried out in this paper with the use of a commercial computational fluid dynamics. Consequently, it has analyzed the configuration of dynamic arc during the operating process. The influence of the three-dimensional arc varying with the temperature of gas flow and the flow pressure has been simulated.
