Simulation for Application of a Improved Pneumatic Propulsion Method on Minisub

In order to make propulsion system and oxygen system of manned minisub be secure, eco-friendly, efficient, reliable and economical, a combination of ordinary air motor and high-pressure air bottle is adopted for providing propulsion and oxygen. A model consists of high-pressure bottle, air motor and associated parts, propeller and the resistance of the minisub is established in SimulationX. The underwater speed and its duration are obtained through calculation as the rev, thrust force, torque of the propeller,etc. The availability of pneumatic propulsion method on minisub is analysed. Results illustrate that: pneumatic propulsion method fulfills the required underwater speed and its duration. Furthermore, the application of depression air bottle and heat exchanger makes the propulsion system more efficient and lengthens the duration of minisub.
