A Fast Algorithm for 2-D Direction-of-Arrival Estimation for Distributed Source
A computationally efficient method for twodimensional direction-of-arrival (2-D DOA) estimation of narrowband distributed source impinging on the far field of a planar array is presented. The key idea is to apply a two-stage sequent estimation method based on Schur-Hadamard product steering vector. The elevation DOA can be estimated by a second order statistics. And then the azimuth DOA is obtained by a searching step. The algorithm replaces a joint 2-D maximization problem by two-stage decoupled estimation problem, which has a lower computational loss. Simulation results are included to demonstrate the performance of the proposed technique.
