A BGP-based Approach to Block Bad Websites in ISP Networks
The flooding of bad information in Internet has become a serious social problem. But the conventional method to prevent the proliferation of bad information has the limitation of slow responding and complicated procedure. In this paper, we propose a new approach to solve the problem. Our solution uses the feathers of border gateway protocol to build a network address block system in ISP networks, which is consist of the bad websites address database, the address distribution system and network block point system. The deployment of the prototype system showed that: after the verification of reported bad network address, the system can be achieved to distribute the badness network address to all block points in second-class and block the target network address fast. The method can be deployed in ISP networks to effectively prevent the spread of bad information.
