The Channel Modeling for User Location using Wireless IR Communication in Indoor Environment
In this paper, channel characteristics of indoor channel for wireless infrared communication in indoor environment is studied. Infrared radiations have short range and has unlimited and unregulated bandwidth. For indoor applications it gives perfect isolation since infrared signal do not pass through walls. A channel impulse response includes the power ratio and time delay due to bounce times. We propose this infrared channel for detection of location of portable devices or user in indoor environment. Because of limited power of infrared, channel prediction is important. Impulse response plays an important role in this case. This method, which accounts for multiple reflections of any order, enables accurate analysis of the effects of multipath dispersion on high-speed indoor infrared wireless communication.Different room scenarios are considered to compute the received power in specific scenario. We present a simple algorithm for computer implementation of the technique and computer simulation results for both line-of-sight and diffuse transmitter configurations. In both cases, we find that reflections of multiple orders are a significant source of inter-symbol interference.
