Study of Cutting temperature and cutting Force while Machining AL-SI Alloy

The Silicon-aluminum alloys (Al-Si),with Si contents up to 12% are important materials in automotive and aeronautical industries due to their low density and high wear resistance.The variation of cutting force and cutting temperature for Al-Si alloy cutting with diamond cutter are investigated.The results show that the cutting force and cutting temperature are synchronously increased with the increase of feed rate,the feed rate as minor as possible should be adopted in order to avoid the overheat in cutting area.The minimum cutting force appears in a cutting speed range,the cutting speed is better in this range for the cutting performance improvement.The cutting temperature is increased with the increase of cutting speed with the experiment range.
