An Edge and Filter Based Morphological Text Extracting Method
Text in images and video frames provides valuable information for images content understanding and retrieval.Text detection is still a difficult task,due to variety of font size 、 font colors and alignment of text,as well as the complexity of the background.A morphological text extracting method based on edge and filter is proposed in this paper.Existing methods are generally time consuming and sensible to image complexity when refers to complex background.So that we present an approach which provide both rapidity and accuracy to extract text areas.Its based on edge extraction and filters combining with morphological operator.,connectedcomponent-,project profile and some restrictions.Experimental results show that the approach is robust,and it can be applied not only to caption text in video images but also to detect scene text within natural scene images.
