Adaptive denoising of the Heart Sound Signal with EMD Threshold
Heart sound is one of the most important physiological signals in body, which carries important information about the state of the heart and blood vessels. Ambient and physiological noise interference is one of the most usual incidents during heart sound acquisition, which make the diagnostic evaluation of phonocardiographic records difficult In this paper, we propose a new method to denoise the heart sound based on Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD). The heart sound is decomposed into series of intrinsic mode functions by EMD; each intrinsic mode function is shrinked by the adaptive threshold, then the denoised signal is reconstructed. The algorithm is tested by clinical heart sound data, and experimental results show that the noise has been effectively removed.
