Executive Compensation and Ownership Structure:An Empirical Investigation of Chinese Small and Medium-sized Listed Enterprises
This paper examines the effect of Chinese listed small-and-medium-sized enterprises ownership structure on executive compensation.Based on the data from Shenzhen Stock Exchange during 2007,2008 and 2009,the percentage of shares held by executives and the percentage of shares held by the top one shareholder are significantly and negatively related to executive compensation.But the percentage of state-owned shares and the percentage of exchangetraded shares have no effect on executive compensation.
