Research on Stability and Support of Roof with Larger Section and Thin Bedrock above Shallow Coal Seam

The numerical simulations being used, the stress and deformation characteristics of roof with larger section and thin bedrock above the shallow coal seam were analyzed, and the effects of bolt support and bolt anchor joint support were compared. The results show that for roadway with larger section and thin bedrock above the shallow coal seam, the bolt support often makes the rocks above roadway work as a composite beam, so it can well improve the resistance of bending and tensile of the rock, prevent the roof damage, but it cant prevent the roof settlement as a whole. But the bolt anchor joint support can reduce stress in the rock and control roof settlement well. Studies also show that the preload of anchor affects the support effect greatly. All results got in this article can provide a good reference for supporting methods in similar projects.
