Experimental Study on Explosion Overpressure Characteristics and Failure Mode of Mine Roadway

Gas explosion is a common mine accident, and it has been paid great attention to by the national safety supervision departments. Inner explosion experiments with different charge of TNT for two reinforced concrete mine roadway models are carried out to investigate the explosion overpressure characteristics and failure modes. Blast gages are fixed on the walls of mine roadway models to measure the explosion pressures which arrive and are reflected. The experimental results show that the pressures on the walls of mine roadway models are nonlinearly decreased with periodic macroscopic pulsation. The pressure-time history figures are composed of one main pulse and several relatively intensive pulses, and the quasi static gas pressures values are less than the dynamic gas pressures values. The two-way flexural failures of the roofs are the primary failure modes for the two mine roadway models. For the whole structure, it is an effective way to set partition walls inside the mine roadways to prevent structures from failing by explosion shock wave.
