Time-domain simulation of tank sloshing pressure and experimental validation
In this paper, a time-domain Green function based BEM (boundary elements method) in presented to simulate tank sloshing problems. NURBS based higher-order panel method is developed to solve the boundary integral equation. To get phy sical real stable results, a modified tank wall boundary condition is presented. The model experiments were carried out using partially filled rectangular tank with forced sway motion. Sloshing-induced internal pressures and wave elevation have been obtained numerically and experimentally. It is observed that the present numerical methods provide a fair agreement with experimental results. Long-time simulations have also been carried out to demonstrate the stability of the method.
