Soil Salinity Mapping Based on Support Vector Machine Classification by HJ-1 CCD

HJ-1 satellite data has been applied successfully on environment protection and disaster reduction fields since it is launched on September, 6th, 2008. However, disaster reduction study achievement is few by using HJ-1 CCD. Datong basin is selected as study area and salinity symptoms are also characterized using field spectra collected with an ASD FieldspecPro spectrometer. Atmospheric correction is performed using 6S that converts the radiance recorded by CCD sensor to reflectance imagery, thus enabling comparisons between image spectra and field or laboratory derived spectra. Soil salinity mapping is made based on support vector machine classification. The result shows that soil salinity can be identified perfectly using HJ-1 CCD, and the classification result is according with field investigation.
