Temperature Field Computation of Giant Magnetostrictive Transducers

Energy loss occurs and heat is produced when giant magnetostrictive transducers transform electromagnetic energy into mechanical energy, this influences their working performances and lives, therefore, precise temperature field distribution computing is needed in designing. Magnetic field distribution of the giant magnetostrictive transducer is computed precisely by using the finite element method, the heat production rate of heating components is obtained by assuming that all electromagnetic loss transforms into heat Heat dissipating capacity of coils of the transducer is low, cooling effect of the external pure aluminum channel is good, therefore, there is little temperature arising. However, heat production rate of the giant magnetostrictive rod is high and its thermal conductivity is poor, so its temperature is high. Its temperature can be decreased through enlarging the former channel of the giant magnetostrictive rod and adding the flow of cooling water.
