Suspension K&C Characteristics and the Effect on Vehicle Steering
This paper investigates the effect of suspension kinematics and compliance (K&C) characteristics on vehicle steering characteristics. The model is built via CarSim and verified by experimental data. Based on our previous research and engineering experience, the suspension K&C characteristics and their characteristic parameters are summarized. Several important characteristic parameters are selected as factors and their levels are made. The orthogonal method is employed for the simulation and analysis .The steady-state circular test, the steering wheel angle step input test, and the steering wheel impulse input test are performed in the simulation. Furthermore, the influence sequence of those characteristic parameters on the understeer, yaw response time and harmonic peak frequency are studied. Finally, the sensitivity of suspension K&C characteristics on the vehicle steering is derived.
