A Self-Similarity Based Vertical Handoff Algorithm for Wireless Heterogeneous Networks
In the future > the wireless communication network based on IP technology is a heterogeneous network which can integrate various wireless networks as a seamless connectivity to each other. Vertical handoff is a key technology to accomplish this target. However, little attention has been focused on the self-similarity of IP packets in vertical handoff decision algorithm. This paper proposes a selfsimilarity based vertical handoff algorithm for wireless heterogeneous network. In addition, the predecision mechanism is added. Simulation results show that this algorithm can reduce call blocking possibility (CBP) and handoff call dropping possibility (HCDP) of the system.
