Waveform Design for UWB Communication Based on Combined Sinusoid Gaussian Pulse
Aimed at the emission mask property of ultra wideband (UWB)system proposed by federal communications commission (FCC), a novel pulse waveform design method for UWB communication based on combination of the sinusoid Gaussian pulse is presented. The sinusoid Gaussian pulses with diverse shaping factors and diverse carrier frequencies are chosen as basis functions. The weighting coefficients which based on least square error (LSE) are made certain acted as linear combination coefficients of basis functions, the waveform is further optimized by tuning carrier frequencies and shaping factors. The bit error rate (BER) performance of the TH-PPM UWB pulse is analyzed in a multi-user environment. Compared with the second derivative Gaussian pulse and random coefficient combination pulse, the simulation results show that the pulse designed based on combination of the sinusoid Gaussian pulse has higher spectral utilization efficiency and better bit error rate(BER) performance.
