Wear-Optimal Design: A Tire Wear Model and Sensitivity Analysis
In this paper, one tire model is treated to predict tread wear in transverse and circumferential directions. It is improved by combined-slip brush model, but some nonlinear factors are included for transient and dynamic considerations. In model tire splits into several slices in lateral direction and mechanical characters of each slice are calculated considering the distribution of normal load pressure, slip ratio, and effective radius in tire lateral and longitudinal directions. Parameters of each slice needed are gotten by fitted equations from tests or deduced from middle plane which is defined as one center plane in lateral direction. The parameter sensitivity is also listed in the paper for checking the effect extent of some parameters to wear quantity. The results will help to predict tire wear and to optimize tread wear-oriented tire design to reduce the tire wear and avoid tire uneven wear.
