Study on Digital Synoptophore Motion Control System Based on Multi-stepper Motor

Synoptophore is a widely-used ophthalmic diagnostic equipment for visual function examination and treatment. Existing synoptophore devices have some disadvantages, such as single function, cumbersome manual operation, and lacking of interactivity. Moreover, it cannot support automated testing processes. In order to solve these problems, a new type of digital synoptophore has been developed, in which a motion control component based on ATMEGA64 microprocessor consists of five stepper motors and is used to adjust horizontal and vertical viewing angles on the left and right sides and pupillary distance displacement. For the key issues of this motion control system, we analyzed the running speed of the stepper motor and the motion control algorithm of multi-stepper motor in the digital synoptophore motion control system. The simulation and practical application shows that the system can meet the technology and precision requirements of synoptophore and can replace the manual operation of traditional synoptophore.
