Ship Maneuvering Simulation Based on Real-time Numerical Simulation of Flow

On the voyage, maneuvering characteristics of ship such as speed, and turning ability are often affected by the complex flow, which can easily cause traffic accidents. Aimed to quantitative research on the ship maneuvering characteristics with the real-time simulated current fields, the real-time simulations on the complex flow conditions in the bridge area have been performed and applied to the study on ship handling, and a series of numerical simulations on the ship crossing bridge waterway areas have been performed. The width of trajectory of ship crossing the bridge area was studied and the quantitative analyses were made. Research shows that the ship maneuvering simulation based on current field of real-time simulation can reflect the true water dynamic characteristics and the ship maneuvering characteristics. It is a good method for research on ship security.
