Numerical Simulation on Three-dimensional Unsteady Flow in Counter-rotating Axial Fan under Different Working Conditions

Numerical simulation of three-dimensional unsteady turbulent flow in a counter-rotating axial fan has been performed in this paper. The whole flow passage geometric model has been made according to the design parameters, the unstructured grids, RNG turbulence model and SIMPLE numerical algorithm have been used to solve the three-dimensional Navier-Stoles equations under two different working conditions. The simulation results show the basic characteristics of pressure and velocity inside the axial fan. Furthermore, the operating performance under different working conditions has been analyzed. The dependability of the simulation has been testified via comparing with experimental data. The simulation results have important value of engineering applications in the optimal design and in the increasing of the overall operation performance of the fan.
