A study of the tooth structure of offshore drilling platform Based on thermal-stress analysis

Offshore drilling platform in the planetary gear reducer gear transmission, due to the interaction force between tooth is large and there is relative sliding, which will produce large amounts of frictional heat. It is not only affect the overall temperature of the reducer, and cause additional thermal stress as a result of high temperature caused by friction of the tooth contact with each other. It will seriously affect the teeth of drive performance, operational reliability and service life. To this end, combined with the heat transfer gear science, tribology and finite element theory, the establishment of a planetary gear box gear threedimensional finite element model for thermal-stress analysis. The thermal-stress diagram of gear parts in a state of thermal equilibrium was calculated to obtain in the different ambient temperature. For the thermal-stress diagram obtained, by modifying and analyzing the tooth structure, obtained the effective way of reducing the thermal-stress which could be adopted. The study also shows that used the visual finite element analysis method to solve the problem of specific structure size which could not use the existing formula to determine, would access to the results more precise, convenient, and intuitive, which has practically reference value.
