Finite Element Analysis of mode and anti-shock of a Gearbox

The modal and frequencies of a gearbox were analyzed by using finite element method (FEM) with different boundary conditions. At the same time, the ability of anti-shock of the gearbox was studied with FEM. The calculated results show that the frequencies with the boundary condition of completely restriction in bottom are bigger than that with the restriction boundary condition of four bolt holes. The displacement, velocity and acceleration in the top of gearbox are maximal. But those characteristic vales close to the bottom of the gearbox are minimal when the anti-shock response is analyzed. The maximal dynamic stress appears to two sides of the gearbox, so some enhanced measures should be used in this region.
