Model Simulation Test on the Lateral Bearing Properties of Caisson-Pile Foundation
Based on the use of software of FLAC3D, the simulation test of 4 pipe piles foundation with caisson has been carried out under the horizontal loads, including the choice of model parameters, the set of contact element, and the selection of model cell and loading ways. The results indicated that the caisson can withstand a certain level of load when the horizontal loads are loaded. Compared to different positions of the pile, soil horizontal displacement located in the back of the post-pile was larger than the pre-piles. However, the horizontal displacement of different pile on the same depth was basically the same. Similarly, caisson rotate would cause the occurrence of soil settlement at the bottom of the right side of it, which led the soil outside of caisson upward bulged.
