Simulation on Process Forming Long-axis with Multi-wedge Cross Wedge Rolling Based on ANSYS / LS-DYNA

The constraints between inner-wedge and outer-wedge result in the defects of the surface and interior of piece forming with multi-wedge cross wedge rolling. The finite element model of multi-wedge cross wedge rolling was established by finite element simulation software and the rolling process was simulated in this paper. It was analyzed that the stress and strain distributions of rolled pieces in the stage that outer-wedge in knifing zone and inner-wedge in stretching zone. The results indicate that the long shafts forming with multi-wedge cross wedge rolling is feasible as long as the type of dies is chosen reasonably. The results of research provide theoretical reference for the multi-wedge cross wedge rolling forming long shafts and design of multi-wedge dies.
