Application of non-probabilistic Reliability Theory in Arch Dam Safety Evaluation
This paper presents the use of non-probability and the convex set model in processing structure uncertainty on the highest RCC arch dam of the word—wan jia kou zi and gives a new method to safety evaluation of structure based on non-probabilistic theory, finite element methods analysis and matlab programming are used in the calculation. Research obtains non-probability reliability index of dam, finds all possible failure modes, considering randomness of initial cracking position. Through the analysis of each mode, it gets a reasonable safety evaluation. It also illustrates that non-probability theory can be used in safety evaluation of arch dam and other structures.
