Numerical Model of Damage Analysis for Fiber-reinforced Composites with Coating

Coating plays an important role in fiber-reinforced composite, which can protect fiber, improve interface characteristic and obtain optimal bonding strength of composite. Under cyclic loading, the effect of coating thickness on interface damage is investigated based on double shear-lag model. Stresses of components are obtained. Numerical Model for analyzing interface damage is established by the Paris Formula. By the aid of an example, interfacial debonding of fiber-reinforced composite is simulated and analyzed under different coating thickness. It can be seen that a certain thickness coating decreases interface damage greatly and prolongs composite life.
