The Research of Key Modeling Technique in Battlefield Situation Expression

In battlefield situation expression, the real time, reality and accuracy of model displaying are core factors which we focus on. This paper bring forward two key techniques which can use in entity modeling, which base on the requirements in battlefield situation expression. The techniques are model simplification and terrain following. For the first technique, the paper presents a simple and fast algorithm, which is based on interative edge collapse to simplify mesh model, the pristine algorithm of error metrics is also improved. The simplification algorithm is simple and intuitionistic and can meet the require of real-time display .For the technique of terrain following, we enumerate problems that appear in terrain matching, which entity models match terrain in different DEM grid density. At the same time, we bettered four-point terrain matching measures to improve reality of entity model match.
