The Application of Analytical Hierarchy Process in Evaluating Healthcare Systems
To evaluate a healthcare system effectively, three aspects that are important to a system are set in the first step. Then based on the statistics obtained from the official reports of WHO, five specific metrics were chosen from the three aspects: average life expectancy, physicians per 10000 populations, general government expenditure on health as % of total government expenditure, private expenditure on health as % of total expenditure on health and births attended by skilled health personnel. To build the Evaluation Model the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) was applied to assign weights to the metrics and an integrative equation was carried out to measure the Judging Index of a healthcare system. At last, examples of application of the model are presented.
