Bilingual Acquisition — A Multiple Intelligence Approach
INTRODUCTION By applying the Multiple Intelligence (M.I.) approach, this second-language-acquisition-study (SLA) article introduces how bi-lingual instructors, who specialize in the subject of SLA, bilingual education, or foreign-language teaching, may facilitate their learners to acquire the target language or both the languages. Specifically, this study draws on concepts and literature from the fields of SLA, bilingualism, and the MI theory, to explain how two languages, Chinese and English in this case, can be acquired in a sequential and/or a simultaneous manner. In addition, the study also serves as a brief teaching reference by providing a number of activities emphasizing the universality of the language skills involved. The procedures of the activities are demonstrated during the assigned conference session.
