Research on the Risk Assessment Method of Risk-based Inspection (RBI)Technology Combining the Reliability

Risk-based Inspection (RBI) includes qualitative RBI judgment and quantitative RBI calculation. Through qualitative judgments, we can systematically mark the relative magnitude of risks for each device on the risk matrix, and get the relative level of risks. It is no need for those devices whose risks are relatively low to have a quantitative RBI while for the ones whose risks are relatively high, further quantitative RBI is indispensable. In view of the limitations of the application of API 581 in China, we introduce reliability theory to calculate the possibility of equipment failure and estimate the probability of failure or reliability in the future. Hence, we can assess the position of this equipment in the entire system on the premise of completely knowing the consequence and probability of failure in use of RBI technology, and thus appropriately distribute inspection resources and maintenance resources. Finally, the whole risk assessment process is successfully ended up with RBI.
