Corrosion Evaluation of Seamless Steel Gas Cylinder Through Statistical Methodology
Average thickness is usually calculated to evaluate corrosion condition of seamless steel gas cylinders after ultrasonic thickness measurement. However, evaluation result uncertainties exist because of the effects of instrument tolerance, environment, measurement location and other factors. Then a statistical methodology is proposed in this paper to reduce the uncertainties. It is shown that average thickness and corrosion rate can both be conservatively evaluated by this methodology.
