Study on the Difference in Evacuation Psychology and Behavioral Responses of Students of Different Genders in the Situation of Fire

In the situation of fire, there exists a significant difference in evacuation psychology and behavioral responses of students of different genders. In this study, 1141 boarding students in Vocational and Technical College are chosen to be examined, and statistical analysis method is used in the questionnaire survey performed to students of different genders, of which the result shows that in the situation of fire women exhibit less experienced than men in fire evacuation drill or going through a fire; women have stronger tenseness, fear and group psychology than men do; men are more capable than women of escaping without going far and more ready to select passing through dense smoke, carrying hot smoke or other behaviors to notice the others or refind the location of the exit; women are going to take fire-fighting actions and willing to call for help in the initial stage of fire. This study, of which the technology is scientific and advanced and the result is reliable, not only provides a reference for fire-fighting service in crowded places, but also has a theoretical significance in replenishing the firefighting psychology, fire disaster psychology, social psychology and so on in China.
