Study on Experiment and Numerical Simulation of Evacuation from a Classroom under Emergent Conditions

Students evacuation process in a classroom is studied by experiment and pathfinder numerical simulation. By contrast, the simulation results agree with the experiment results quite well. It is superior to study evacuation time by Cb which is the result of dividing the total number of evacuation time by exit width, and there is a nonlinear relationship between Cb and evacuation time. It is improper that the more occupants choose the same exit, the longer the exit evacuation time will be. Gender differences also influence evacuation time. Effective evacuation guidance is very important in emergent evacuation.
