Evaluating Leaking Area of Enclosure from Smoke Filling
Leaking flow of enclosure might bring harmful effects to building and affect gas flow under fire. During smoke filling in an enclosure with leakage, temperature distribution, pressure profile and conservation of mass will differ from those in enclosure without leakage. A simplified calculation procedure for estimating leaking area of enclosure was proposed based on consideration of mass conservation during smoke filling. An example was used to illustrate the procedure. Results showed that the procedure could be applied on evaluating leak tightness of the enclosures whose side leakage can be approximately regarded averagely distributed along its height. For enclosures with complicated leakage, the calculation procedure can also be applied after modifications.
