Research on Smoke Movement in Small Radius Curvilinear Tunnel Fires

On the basis of the Ganhaizi curvilinear tunnel in the highway of Yaan to Xichang in Sichuan, threedimensional numerical model is built to simulate the smoke movement in small radius curvilinear tunnel fires, combined with the special boundary conditions of the tunnel. The distributions and variations of the smoke velocity, temperature and concentration in small radius curvilinear tunnel fires under different ventilation velocities are studied in this paper, and the minimum longitudinal ventilation velocity in the fire emergency situation is presented. The simulation results show that, the smoke spread and the temperature distribution in small radius curvilinear tunnel fires is obviously different from that in straight tunnel fires, and the minimum longitudinal ventilation velocity required to suppress the backlayering in Ganhaizi curvilinear tunnel fires is 4m/s.
