Automatic Fire Alarm System Design for Large-Scale Steel Structural Industrial Buildings

Steel components will be easily distorted when largescale steel structural industrial buildings are on fire, which will result in fire quickly spreading and make people rescue more difficult. The committed step is to construct a reliable and optimized automatic fire alarm system based on fire control characteristics of large-scale steel structural industrial buildings. The system should make advance warning and extinguish the fire in the initial stage. A new scheme has been put forward for automatic fire alarm system of large-scale steel structural industrial buildings in this paper. Distributed control system theory and redundancy technique have been applied in system configuration and reliability design. An engineering example of large-scale steel structural industrial plants has been given out. The buildings are divided into alarm zones and detection zones according to fire compartment and production property. Suitable detectors and small capacity distributed intelligent alarm controllers are selected to optimize system configuration. The engineering examples show that the designed automatic fire alarm system is a reliable system which can work properly in formidable environmental condition and make quick and accurate fire alarm in early stage possible. The example also indicates that high capacity alarm controllers have been out of fashion and small capacity detectors will be widespread and have the capability to solve the difficult problems of phased and disperse construction because of their advantages in flexible network construction and convenient expansion. This will be the trend of development in automatic fire alarm system of largescale steel structural industrial buildings in the near future.
