Study on Early Detection of Smoke in Compartment of Soft Sleeper Car

Being one of the key factors of early fire warning, research on smoke detection and its interference factors at smoldering combustion stage of train fire hazard can provide references for the train fire protection and the train AC system design. Physical and mathematical model is built for the smoke flowing field of smoldering propagation in the soft sleeper car, and three-dimension numerical simulation of smoke flowing under design condition is carried out based on Fluent software. Then the reliability and validity of the model is verified by mock-up test. Furthermore, the impact of smoke source location, open/close state of door and running state of airconditioning unit on the smoke concentration field is analyzed, found that when air-conditioning unit is running, smoke concentration of ceiling area and air return is higher no matter where the smoke source is, and the running of air-conditioning unit and the opened door will accelerate the disperse of the smoke.
