Cook-off Test of Exploding Foil Initiator
The cook-off tests at 450 ℃ were carried out with exploding foil initiator samples of different charge structures. The safe charge range at 450℃ was determined by judging the output with steel dents, ablation of aluminum ring, distortion or fragments of shells. When the charge weight of HNS-IV in EFI samples is less than 34 mg, the explosive will decompose due to heat stimulation. When it is between 45 mg and 60 mg, the explosive will be in incomplete combustion, combustion or deflagration transition. The explosive will deflagrate when the mass is from 60 mg to 181 mg. EFI will explode if the explosive weight is over 242 mg.
