Degradation Mechanism of Reinforced Concrete Beams under Multi-field Coupling
By applying fast freeze-thaw circles and mixedcorrosion solution in the laboratory environment, the deterioration in the mechanical behavior of reinforced concrete beams with different persistent loading is studied. A mixed solution of 3% NaCl and 0.34% MgSO4 is used as corrosion medium. The freezethaw action and mixed corrosion solution are alternatively applied to the studied beams. The behavior degradation of reinforced concrete beams after 300 0.10, 0.33 and 0.50, respectively. Results show that the strength and elastic modulus of concrete decrease with the increasing number of freeze-thaw cycles. SEM (Standard Electronic Modules) and XRD (X-ray Diffraction) experiments are also carried out after static loading tests to investigate microstructure and chemical changes of concrete. When persistent loading is coupled with the action of freeze-thaw and mixed corrosion, the degradation of the mechanical properties of reinforced concrete beams will be accelerated. For the same number of alternate cycles of freeze-thaw and mixed corrosion, more decrease in the ultimate bearing capacity has been found when the persistent load is larger.
