Fatigue Assessment of Welded Structure Based on Measured Dynamic Stress and IIW Standard

Fatigue of welded structure is a complicated process, the fatigue life prediction technology is researched. According to the results of finite element analysis and design requirements, the dynamic stress measuring points are located. Using the high accuracy data acquisition system to acquire dynamic strain, and then the signal processing such as spark removal, filtering, rain-flow counting and spectrum processing have been carried out. Based on the Miner cumulative fatigue damage theory and the weld joint S-N curve data provided by International Institute of Welding (IIW) standard, the fatigue life is obtained in a certain probability. A welded bracket example shows the feasibility of this method.
