Research on Seismic Performance of the Braced Steel Frame with Wedge Devices
The anergy absorption mechanism and seismic performance of a new wedge-supporting system steel frame were studied. The simplified calculation model was obtained by analyzing basic principle of the steel frame with wedge supporting system, the numerical simulation of the non-supporting steel frame, eccentric supporting steel frame and this new steel frame under earthquake action were carried out by explicit nonlinear dynamic analysis. The results showed that: The wedge made hysteretic curve of the supporting system steel frame be non-slipping feature and the deformation, acceleration response and input energy of this new energy dissipation steel frame can be controlled effectively; wedge supporting system steel frame provided resistance lateral stiffness controlling deformation. It is also able to command the displacement and the acceleration response of the structure by using the yield energy dissipation in braces. The coordination work between stiffness and the hysteretic type damping is good in different earthquake stage. These indicate its good adaptability for earthquake intensity, and with better seismic performance.
