Safety of Seepage Field of Yellow River Levee Slope under Flood and Rain
The levee of Yellow River is a representative unsaturated slope which is made of several kinds of soils, such as: fine sand, clay and silty clay. The safety of levee is very important to the people lived near the yellow river and the test of unsaturated can give the people some answers on the safety. The triaxial test instrument for unsaturated soils controlled by stress and strain was used to measure the matric suction and volumetric water content of unsaturated soils; and a set of soil-water characteristic curves of silty clay were obtained. Based on this, under the environment of rain and flood we analysis the variability of the seepage field in the downstream yellow river levee with the finite element method. From this we got the extent influenced by rain or flood infiltration in front of the phreatic line. The extent is about 2 meters. We analyse the co-operated influence of rain and flood infiltration and get that whether the flood infiltration can easily change the seepage field or not is determined by the bulk of rainfall and length of the rain.
