Investigation on Safety Use of Cell Phone while Driving

The paper investigated cell phone use among drivers so as to provide scientific basis for preventing and controlling countermeasures. Spot investigations to the motorists was carried out in parking lots in Shanghai by volunteers by using method of social statistics (x2 for examining, P<0.05 means there exists significant difference). The survey shows that (1) 90.21% of all the respondents admitted to have ever used cell phone while driving, which seems to be a serious problem; (2)young drivers and those with high education are more likely to use cell phone while driving, withx2=4.3681 and x2=8.6101, P<0.05. which shows significant difference. (3) There is no significant difference between men and women ( with x2=3-5392,P >0.05, shows no statistical difference). The paper draws the conclusion that drivers have not been fully aware of the risks associated with cell phone use while driving, therefore education should be strengthened to raise their awareness.
